Promotion of the Faculty Members under Career Advancement Scheme
The promotion of teachers to higher cadre / grade pay and post under Career Advancement Scheme is not only on the basis of number of years served but also on the basis of his / her contribution in teaching, research and extension / Institutional development. A teacher aspiring for personal promotion should provide information through or along with the Appraisal Form for the consideration of the Screening Committee.

Assistant Professor :
Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 with AGP of Rs. 6,000 to 7,000       
Criteria:
  • Assistant Professor completed four years of service with Ph. D. or five years of service with M. Phil / PG degree (Professional Courses such as M. Tech., M.Pharm., M.V.Sc. M.D. etc.).
  • Published at least four papers in referred National / International journal (Thomson Reuter Index Journal / NAAS rated journals) during his / her assessment period.
  • Supervised at least four UG projects and two PG thesis during his / her assessment period.
  • Attended one Orientation and one Refresher course / Research Methodology course of 2-3 weeks duration, two workshops / training of one week duration and two conferences / seminar of 2 – 3 days duration during his / her assessment period.
  • Been duly evaluated and forwarded by the HoD, School Dean and Dean of the Faculty on Prescribed format Appraisal Form submitted by the aspirant.
  • Been recommended by the screening committee and then approved by the Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor / Executive Council of SHUATS, respectively, for promotion.


Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 with AGP of Rs. 7,000 to 8,000
Criteria:
  • Assistant Professor with completed service of five years at AGP Rs. 7,000.
  • Published at least four research papers in referred National / International Journal (Thomson Reuter index journals / NAAS rated journals) during his / her assessment Period.
  • Supervised at least eight UG project and/or four PG and/or two Ph. D. thesis as advisor / Co – advisor during the assessment period. (if Ph.D. available in the department).
  • Attended two Refresher course or Summer / Winter School of 3 – 4 weeks duration, two Workshops / Trainings of one week duration and two Conferences / Seminars of 2 – 3 days duration during his / her assessment period.  
  • Been duly evaluated and forwarded by the HoD, School Dean and Dean of the Faculty on Prescribed format Appraisal Form submitted by the aspirant.
  • Been recommended by the screening committee and then approved by the Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor / Executive Council of SHUATS, respectively, for promotion.


Associate Professor
Rs. 15,600 – 39100 with AGP Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 37,400 – 67,000 with AGP Rs. 9,000
Criteria: Essential
  • Assistant Professor with completed service of three years at AGP of Rs. 8,000.
  • Published at least four papers in referred National / International journal (Thomson Reuter index journals / NAAS rated journals) during his / her assessment Period.
  • Supervised at least eight PG and/or three Ph. D. thesis as advisor / Co – advisor during his / her assessment period. (if Ph.D. available in the department)
  • Attended one Summer / Winter Schools of 3 – 4 weeks duration and two workshops or trainings of 3 – 7 days duration during his / her assessment period.
  • Been duly evaluated and forwarded by the HoD, School Dean and Dean of the Faculty on Prescribed format Appraisal Form submitted by the aspirant.
Criteria: Desirable
  • Organized at least one National / International Seminars / Conferences / Workshops of 2 – 3 days duration during his / her assessment period. (as Organizing Secretary / member of the Organizing Committee)
  • PI/Co-PI of at least one Sponsored Research Project funded by outside agencies / councils / bodies during his / her assessment period.
  • Selection through a Selection Committee. The Selection Committee shall constitute of the following members:
  • The Vice – Chancellor to be the chairperson of the Selection Committee.
  • Three experts in the concerned subject out of the panels of names approved by the Vice – Chancellor.
  • Pro Vice – Chancellor, Academic Affairs
  • Pro Vice – Chancellor, Administration
  • Registrar
  • Director HRMR
  • Director Research
  • Dean of the concerned Faculty
  • Dean of the concerned School
  • Head of the concerned Department
  • An academician nominated by the Vice Chancellor


Note: At least seven members, including three outside subject experts shall constitute the quorum.
Been recommended by the Selection Committee and then approved by the Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor / Executive Council of SHUATS, respectively, for promotion.   

Professor
Rs. 37,400 – 67000 with AGP Rs. 9,000 to 37,400 – 67000 with AGP Rs. 10,000
Criteria: Essential
  • Associate Professor with completed service of three years at AGP of Rs. 9,000.
  • Published at least four papers in referred National / International journal (Thomson Reuter index journals / NAAS rated journals) during his / her assessment Period.
  • Supervised at least twelve PG and four Ph. D. thesis in totality as advisor / Co – advisor (if Ph.D. available in the department).
  • Attended two workshops / trainings / Conferences / seminars of 3 – 7 days duration during his / her assessment period.
  • Been duly evaluated and forwarded by the HoD, School Dean and Dean of the Faculty on Prescribed format Appraisal Form submitted by the aspirant.
Criteria: Desirable

  • Professor with completed service of ten years at AGP of Rs. 10,000.
  • Additional administrative responsibilities at the higher level of the University. (School Dean / Faculty Dean / Dean P.G. Studies / Controller of Examination / Director / Registrar / Pro Vice Chancellor)
  • Chairperson / Member of the top level committees.
  • Been duly evaluated and forwarded by the HoD, School Dean and Dean of the Faculty on Prescribed format Appraisal Form submitted by the aspirant.
  • Been recommended by the Screening Committee and then approved by the Hon’ble Vice – Chancellor / Executive Council of SHUATS, respectively, for promotion.


Note: Hon’ble Vice Chancellor on the behalf of the Executive Council, upon the
recommendation of the Selection Committee / Screening Committee may relax any of the qualification for promoting teachers, under the CAS in the University.
