Professional Summary

Dr. Danish Ahmed has completed his B. Pharm and M. Pharm (Pharmacology) from Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi in 2006 and 2008 respectively. He earned his PhD (Pharmaceutical Sciences) from Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences (SHIATS)-Deemed University, Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh) (formerly Allahabad Agriculture Institute) in 2015. He was appointed as Assistant Professor in SHIATS-Deemed University in year 2008 and joined the duties in February 2009 and at present is serving the SHIATS-Deemed University in the same capacity.

He has published more than 20 research publication in various journals of repute with high impact factor (Thomson Reuters). He has guided more than 30 UG students and presently supervising one doctoral student. Dr. Danish Ahmed is presently working on the isolation and identification of novel natural molecules from rare indigenous medicinal plants and to explore their mechanism of action on type-1 and type-2 diabetes mellitus. He was awarded several times from Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Department of Biotechnology, Government of India for the travel research grant. He was awarded as full grantee from International Diabetes Federation (IDF) to attend the World Diabetes Congress (WDC) at Canada in December 2015. Dr. Danish Ahmed was also awarded by British Pharmacological Society (BPS)  for BPS Bain Memorial Bursary Fund in November 2015. BPS has again awarded Dr. Danish Ahmed in 2016 to travel to Istanbul (Turkey) in order to attend the EPHAR conference. Dr. Danish Ahmed has been awarded with one minor project from SHIATS-Deemed University in 2014.

Apart from regular academic work, Dr. Danish Ahmed has additional responsibilities such as Examination Supervisor of Faculty of Health Sciences, Library In-charge of Faculty of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) inspection management team incharge.

Expertise

Dr. Danish Ahmed has teaching experience of 8 years with specialization of Pharmacology. He is teaching Pharmacology and Anatomy & Physiology to B. Pharm and PhD Students in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences. His research work includes development of new experimental models of diabetes and isolation, identification of novel natural compounds from indigenous medicinal plants. He has expertise in molecular docking studies in order to explore the plausible mechanism of action of the isolated compounds.
