The Department of Plant Pathology stands to challenges of crop diseases in the present scenario; the challenge is to bring continuous improvement in the productivity, profitability, stability and sustainability of our major farming systems. In this task scientific management of crop diseases holds a pivotal position. With an increasing concern for cleaner environment due to indiscriminate use of chemical pesticides, there is a need for newer approaches for the management of diseases through knowledge gained on the dynamics of plant diseases and their pathogens. The department also involved in promotion of ITK, organic farming and IDM.
