Department of Processing and food Engineering
Meeting the future food demand will be a great challenge to all concerned. Food process engineering seeks to address this issue. Sustainable, safe food supply is the top priority for all the food scientists today. This department was extended as a full-fledged department in 1998 to focus on the above-said target. The research in this department is focused on preservation and processing of grains, fruits and vegetables, development of new products, value added products, etc. The various courses offered by the department ignite the minds of students and guide them to consider a leading career in the food-processing sector, which increases the standard of living of our farmers (producers), and reduces the post-harvest losses, which range from 40% to 90%.
